Centuri and its operating companies today join with communities across the U.S. in celebrating Juneteenth—the date commemorating emancipation in the United States. Steve Williams, president of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation, has called Juneteenth “a unifying holiday” and “the completion of the celebration of freedom in America.”
While there is still work to be done to heal long-standing wounds caused by a bleak period in U.S. history, at Centuri we press into what is true about our company identity—that we are committed to fostering a workplace where every individual is valued equally for our unique backgrounds, perspectives, and abilities. We see our differences as assets, not obstacles, to our ongoing success and seek continuous improvement in nurturing a diverse and inclusive culture.

Centuri CEO Paul Daily shared in a recent Executive Message that words are important, but actions matter more. To that end, today we’re announcing the creation of new scholarship opportunities beginning this fall for children of employees who are pursuing their college education. Reflective of the diverse make up of our employee base, more than fifty percent of the scholarship awards will go to students representing minority and diverse backgrounds. We are pleased to make these scholarships available in support of our valued employees and to advance the futures of those in diverse communities. We’re committed to living out – both in word and deed – the statements we hold as our guiding principles. Employees are our lifeblood. Community is who we serve.
Moving forward, you can expect to hear more about the actions we are taking to evaluate and refine areas of our workplace culture, including additional details about the scholarship program.
